UMP III – universal microphone power supply for the wireless boom

Give your microphone the power it needs without adding a lot of extra weight to your boom pole. UMP stands for Universal Microphone Power Supply: the UMP III powers your microphone with 48 V or 12 V phantom or with 12 V T-power and is designed for use on a wireless boom with standard bodypack transmitters.

Long run time

The third generation is operated with just one button and runs for several hours on a single battery charge – depending on the microphone used.

Its own power supply

The self-contained microphone power supply does not draw on the transmitter's power and thus extends the run time of the entire system. You can mount the UMP III at the tip of the boom – the matching mount for power supply and transmitter is the QWB.

Standard batteries for greener production

The UMP III runs on one rechargeable NP-50 battery. You can therefore use the same batteries you already have in your sound bag for the Lockit, microphones or transmitters – which avoids waste on set. Spare batteries are available in our shop.

Light as a feather

Since NP-50 batteries are much slimmer than AA batteries, for example, the UMP III is very small and light as well: the entire device weighs just 100 g including the battery.

High compatibility

The UMP III is compatible with any transmitter with a microphone input. Input and output (mini XLR 4-pin and 3-pin) are protected against accidental interchange and can be configured individually using the matching cables – UMP-IN and UMP-OUT.

LED display

A five-color LED indicates the battery status and the selected powering mode: blue stands for 48 V phantom, white for 12 V phantom and yellow for 12 V T-power. Red warns you when the battery is low – about 15 minutes of operation are left then.

Note: The UMP III remembers the last selected mode (factory setting: 48 V phantom). Before connecting your microphone, check that the setting matches it.

Accessories

To connect to the transmitter, you need an output cable that matches your bodypack transmitter. The UMP-OUT (length 16 cm) is available for:

The UMP-OUT is also available with open ends. The input cable UMP-IN is also available separately: as the XLR 3-pin version included with the device or for Schoeps CCM.
