QuickPole Series 5 – cabled carbon fiber boom pole with side cable outlet

Whether feature film, streaming series or documentary: alongside audio recorders and microphones, the boom pole is part of the basic toolkit of every sound recordist and boom operator. QuickPoles have been in use for this all over the world for decades.

Series 5 – on the one hand, that stands for the design with five sections, which combine stability and mobility, and on the other hand for the fifth edition of our boom pole. QuickPoles are known for staying super stable even when fully extended and with a heavy windshield: only a little flex and no wobbling after a quick move.

Clever cabling

This QuickPole comes with internal cabling already installed – with either a coiled or a straight cable, each in mono (XLR 3-pin) or stereo (XLR 5-pin). The cable outlet is located on the side of the end piece. The QP5150 is only available with a straight cable. A removable tip and the plug-in end piece make replacing the cable child's play – no soldering required: simply feed the pre-assembled cable through the boom pole from the top and plug it in at the rear end, done.

Special carbon fiber compound

For the Series 5, we use our custom-developed carbon fiber compound with an additional layer of UHM fibers. Thanks to this technology, the QuickPole S5 is as sturdy as the QP 4-section series and yet lighter than the QXS 5-section series. The construction also allows us to offer a particularly long version, the QP5150.

Easy extending and collapsing

On set, you have to work fast. With a low-maintenance, durable counter bearing made of Teflon, felt and silicone lubricant, the tubes of the boom pole are particularly easy to extend and collapse. Additional safety: even when a lock is loose, the sections do not retract by themselves but stay where they are.

Longer handle sleeves

The longer handle sleeves of the locks give you a secure grip with their finely knurled surface. We have also further optimized the thread pitch and the anti-twist mechanism: instead of a steel pin, we now use a high-precision Hirth serration, as otherwise known from the joints of camera rigs. The locks find their position almost by themselves, and with just a quarter turn the boom pole is locked rock-solid.

Easy to maintain

For us, the durability of our QuickPoles also means that you can maintain the boom pole yourself. That is why we developed the QuickPole Maintenance Kit.

Accessories

We also offer the cables separately – as coiled or straight cables. The end piece is available for right-angle and straight plugs; it also fits older models – in case you want to upgrade a QuickPole you already own. For boom poles with a coiled cable and side cable outlet, there is also the QAPL-TX: with this set consisting of a boom pole adapter and a short adapter cable, you can attach a plug-on transmitter parallel to the tube.

To transport your boom pole safely, we offer the Ambient Boom Case and boom pole bags. The matching Boom Case for the QP550 and QP565 is the ABC-84, for the QP580 and QP5100 the ABC-123, and for the QP5130 and QP5150 the ABC-172. Other accessories such as the QuickLok, clamps and adapters are also available from us.

Models, Lengths & Weights

The cabled QuickPole Series 5 with side cable outlet is available in six lengths. The longest is the QP5150 with a maximum usable length of 6.45 m (21' 2") – so you can stand on one side of the street and boom the sound on the other.

We give a 2-year warranty on Ambient QuickPole boom poles. Spare parts are available from us in the long term, and on request we also take care of maintenance and repair for you.

The QuickPole Series 5 is handmade in Germany.

Caution: Carbon fiber is electrically conductive. Keep your boom pole away from power lines.
