Lockit+ – the Timecode and Sync (Genlock) Generator for Studios

For over 30 years, Ambient Timecode has been synonymous with precision and reliability. Like the Lockit, the Lockit+ provides all timecode and sync formats and full ACN compatibility. What is ACN?

The Lockit+ is the perfect solution, especially for larger studios and virtual production applications. Either as your smart and affordable Studio Master Clock or as a bridge from the studio clock to the Lockit boxes on your cameras. Click here for the case study.

The Lockit+ has the same basic functions as the Lockit (ACN-CL). The Plus in the name stands for the following extra features:

+ WiFi Access

The built-in server spans a local WiFi, giving users browser-based access to all the Lockit+ features via mobile device or computer. The web interface gives access to advanced generator settings and monitoring of all Lockit devices within the ACN.

+ More Connectors

While the front of the Lockit+ offers the same two 5-pin ports (Lemo-compatible) you know from the Lockit (blue port for TC & ACN and yellow port for TC & Sync), the Standard Extension provides additional connections for different setups. In total the Lockit+ with Standard Extension has:

• 2x blue 5-pin port for TC & ACN
• 1x yellow 5-pin port for TC & Sync
• USB-A connector (Frequency Scanning Antenna)
• USB-C connector (Camera Metadata / Powering)
• USB-C connector for MIDI timecode (Future Feature)
• Hirose (Powering)

+ Frequency Scanning

Plug the separately available antenna into a USB port of the Lockit+ to perform a full frequency scan. In the web interface you get concrete suggestions for available frequencies for your audio transmitters and receivers.

Plug & Play. Simply plug in and start the frequency scan in the Lockit+ web interface in the "Radio Wizard" tab. The frequency range can be freely selected between 100 MHz and 1500 MHz.

The matching antenna (ACN-RF) is available in a bundle with the Lockit+ or sold separately.

+ Lens Metadata Processing

The Lockit+ stores key Cooke /i lens metadata frame-accurately in an open file format (supported protocol: Cooke/i3 – “i cubed”).

Record lens data on the internal web server or connect a USB stick for recording. Live lens data is also available via WiFi or Ethernet. The API is available on request via: support@ambient.de

+ Metadata Hub for LockitScript App

The Lockit+ can extract technical metadata from compatible cameras and send it via WiFi to the Ambient LockitScript App for script supervisors.

+ TX Mode

In TX Mode, the Lockit+ becomes a timecode & genlock bridge: it waits for an external timecode signal and automatically adapts its speed to that source. It then passes timecode and sync on to all other Lockits via ACN. This is especially useful if you want your audio recorder to be the master clock on set or if your studio already has a studio master clock – as well as for playback shoots or virtual production setups. The source can be LTC via cable or MIDI timecode from your computer.

+ TC & Sync Offset

Some cameras always lag behind by one or more frames, even though they are fed the correct timecode. The reason is an internal processing delay in the camera. To fix this, you can set an individual offset on the Lockit+. Find out how in our FAQs.

+ Flexible Powering

The Lockit+ can be powered by 6 to 24 Volts DC via a Hirose 4-pin connector (e.g. with a Hirose power supply) or via the USB-C socket. In addition, the Lockit+ comes with a replaceable BX1 backup battery (2 h runtime).
