QP Jumbo – extra-long boom poles for concert recordings and crowd scenes

The QP Jumbo is built like our feature film boom poles, only considerably longer: the QP 5190 extends to 8.60 m, the QP 6200 to 10.60 m. On a stand, you can reach heights of up to 12 m.

With five or six tube sections and the corresponding weight, the Jumbos are no longer intended for handheld work (even though we have already sold a few to boom operators). That is why we offer tilting joints and counterweights for mounting the boom pole on a Manfrotto light stand.

Applications

Jumbo boom poles are used in the studio, for classical concerts, church organ recordings or feature film crowd scenes – and, together with the A-RAY surround microphone support, for surround recordings as well. But they also carry small cameras, lights, measuring equipment or antennas, for example.

Mounting on a stand

For the “small” Jumbo (QP 5190) there is the QMJ35 tilting joint, for the “large” Jumbo (QP 6200) the QAJ40 tilting joint. The QMSB and QMSB-L sand bags serve as counterweights. For this purpose, the base of the QP Jumbo is fitted with a slotted tube, a ring and a carabiner.

Accessories

There are also practical accessories for the Jumbos, such as the QuickLok (QRT) or the QWB boom pole mount for microphone power supplies and wireless transmitters.

Models, Lengths & Weights

The QP Jumbo is available in two lengths. The QP 5190 is the shorter and lighter one: at over 8 meters in length, it weighs less than 2 kilograms. Its five tube sections can be converted to the “large” Jumbo (QP 6200) with the QP 210 extension as a sixth section.

We give a 2-year warranty on Ambient QuickPole boom poles. Spare parts are available from us in the long term, and on request we also take care of maintenance and repair for you.

Caution: Carbon fiber is electrically conductive. Keep your boom pole away from power lines.
